It all began December 15,1944 when two Credit Union League representatives were
invited to the Vancouver Police Department to explain the requirements
necessary to establish a Police Credit Union. As the meeting approached
only four members showed up. In order to have the required number of
members present, a patrol wagon was dispatched to round up six more
members from the beats near the station and bring them to the meeting.
Ten members, at $1.00 each and the V.P. Credit Union was formed.
From these humble
beginnings, we have been serving the employees of the Vancouver Police Board,
the serving employees affiliated with the Vancouver Provincial Courts and
the immediate family members of those who qualify for membership.
Over the years we
have established a proud reputation of excellent services to as many as
four generations of family members in a family atmosphere.
So it began, and the
growth has more than justified the beginning. We are now over 3000
members and 90 million dollars in assets.
